Rare British Raj Picnic Table and Chairs in Folding Travel Case

This is a very special, one-of-a-kind piece. The piece was made by hand from mahogany wood and was specially designed for a British general living in Rajasthan in the late 1800's. The table with its four attached chairs fold into themselves to form a closed carrying case with brass handle. The chairs maintain their original woven rattan seats. Recently painted by hand in a black and white “optical art” pattern of two intertwined zebra. This functional bespoke piece is equal parts history equal parts op-art. Open 220x106 cm x 78 H
